While I admit Jim Carey as a standup was not that great, the original Ace Ventura (and old Jim Carey skits on In Living Color for that matter) is funny in the way Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and the old slapstick movies were funny. Physical humor is great, and Jim Carey was one of the best at it.
