Trying to revive discussion on this board, and I know we have a lot of baseball fans that post here. Come on guys, we have to do more than just showdowns and fantasy sports.
I know we are still almost a month away from Spring Training, but I figured I would post my predictions now (subject to change of course since there are still a few good FA's out there). Did they decide if they are going with the 2 wild cards for this season, or next?
AL EAST
1. Boston - after the fold job last year, they are going to be out to prove something
2. Tampa Bay - No way I am going to rule this team out
3. New York - That pitching staff does not impress me, and that team is old
4. Toronto - Poor Toronto
5. Baltimore - they will be better, but still not good
AL CENTRAL
1. Detroit - Adding Prince replaces V-Mart, can Verlander have as good a year in 2012?
2. Chicago - Someone has to finish second
3. Cleveland - Seriously, from second on, this is a crap shoot
4. Kansas City - I really want KC to be good. Like Baltimore, they will be better, but still not good
5. Minnesota - I know, the Twins always seem to find a way to win, but it seems like every time I read the sports section, someone was leaving Minnesota
AL WEST
1. Texas - I think the Rangers still have plenty to finish first
2. Anaheim - The AL East's strangle hold on the WC is over
3. Seattle - Sure, why not
4. Oakland - Seattle and Oakland may both lose 90+
NL East
1. Philadelphia - Well OF COURSE I am picking them. Though, their window of opportunity is getting smaller, and the rest of the NL East (except the Mets) is getting better
2. Atlanta - much like Boston, after that collapse, they will be out to prove something
3. Washington - I know Florida made the big moves, but I just have a feeling this could be the start of Washington rising up
4. Florida - It will be interesting to see how the players respond to Ozzie. They could move way up the standings, or it could be an epic disaster
5. New York - They are going to lose 100 games. Poor David Wright
NL Central
1. St. Louis - I guess. SOMEONE has to win the division
2. Pittsburgh - They are not a terrible team anymore, and this is a bad division
3. Cincinnati - I have read some people have picked them for the WS. I just don't see it.
4. Milwaukee - The Brewers will still be a good team. 1-4 could just about be interchangeable at this point. 85 wins probably wins this division
5. Chicago - They are rebuilding. It won't be pretty for a few years, but they are going to get better
6. Houston - Does the AL really want them? I guess the International League said no
NL West
1. San Francisco - They have the pitching. That offense HAS to do better than last year
2. Arizona - Probably played a little over their heads last year, they can hang with SF though
3. Los Angeles - Um, I guess so, sure
4. Colorado - I love Jamie Moyer. Jamie Moyer probably shouldn't be pitching anymore. Jamie Moyer is as old as the Houston Astros (and has more world series wins) not someone ON the Astros, the franchise itself.
5. San Diego - Ok sure, though in all honesty, 3-5 could finish in any order
