Based on comments made last year, Mikey and I are instituting two rule changes for the 2012 season, and asking you to vote on a potential third rule change.

1) Receptions are now worth 0.2 points. That gives a 100-catch receiver an extra 20 points over the course of a season.

2) The "Pain in the Ass" Rule, just instituted into the C&B Baseball league, is instituted. For those not in the baseball league, the rule states that anyone making stupid trades or bitching excessively about fair trades can have up to a third-round draft pick removed from next year's draft. The penalty is determined by the commissioners and can not be appealed. The football league has not had the issues the baseball league has, but we're just creating a safety measure against whiny, bitching baby-men.

3) Please vote in the poll above. Owners have asked for quarterback yardage to be worth more points. The adjusted pts/yards makes 300 yards worth five points, the same as amount as running backs and receivers when they hit 100 yards. But because the top five scorers last year were quarterbacks, we didn't want to give even more power to quarterbacks. So if we increase pts/yards, we're decreasing pts/TD to four points.

The poll closes July 30. If there is a tie in the poll, the current scoring applies.

4) Also on July 30, if we haven't heard from Cory, Tex has dibs on Cory's team. I brought Tex up to speed on the league, the rules and Keepers. Because Cory has the first pick in the draft, Tex's choice of taking Cory's team and draft or drafting a new team with the #1 pick is moot.

5) Draft starts August 6, bitches! Mikey will handle the financial details through LeagueSafe.

I'm fine with increasing WR points if people think it's necessary, but I'm completely against decreasing QB TD points for any reason. A TD should be 6 points across the board.

I don't know enough about fantasy scoring to have a strong opinion either way, but decreasing Touchdown points seems..... wrong

Most leagues only score 3 to 4 points for QB TDs. Competitive balance and such.

Boo on only making it .2 I still don't think that's enough to balance the scales, but at least it's a start.

And with regards to scoring leaders, remember we're only starting 1 qb and 2 rbs and 3 wrs. QBs should score more over all, they have the ball in their hand on every play.

I was just thinking about this. If you have a RB or WR shit the bed, you have 1 or 2 others playing who could pick up the slack. If your QB has an off day, you're done at that position for the week. It makes no sense to give QBs less points.

Just to clear up something...QB points aren't going to change drastically. A QB who throws for 300 yards and 3 TDs scores 21 points currently, and would score 17 points under the new system. Yards would become more important than TDs. Personally, I think TDs should be the most important thing, but the league has asked for a change.

I'm not a fan of taking TD's down. I think, like Fishy said, TDs should be worth 6 points across the board.

I wasn't in favor of making receptions count for anything, but at .2, I can live with that. Although, I'm sure someone will be pissed they lost simply because a receiver had one more catch, but those are the breaks.

I like touchdowns being worth the same all across the board. I voted for 6 and .2 per 50.

It was my idea to count more yards for QBs but never to diminish the QB TD scoring. I think it's tough for our league to use any current rankings because our scoring is so off the beaten path when it comes to receptions and QB scoring.

5 catches = 1 point is still way too low, but maybe next year we'll figure that out.
300 yards passing = 6 points is way too low when 100 yards rushing/receiving = 10 points. They're the same thresholds when it comes to comparing yet we're penalizing QBs because they score more. Guess what, if we did points based scoring in baseball, pitching would look a lot less valuable yet they'd still be most in demand. What QBs score is only a factor when comparing it to other QBs not when compared to RBs or WRs.

Receptions should be .5, but I was willing to settle for .33, yet somehow it winds up being an almost pointless .2

Yards should change for QBs but not TDs. I have no idea why it's one or the other.

The verdict looks like we made inconsequential rule changes regarding receptions and it looks like no change for QBs.

Scoring is updated in the C&B league. I also made a quasi-executive decision in that 40-49 yard FG are now worth four points and 50+ FG are worth five points. A few people asked for that, and Mikey and I talked about it, but I totally forgot about it until now.

I'd like to just add a flex.

Also, I'll keep complaining about receptions until they make sense. .2 is nothing, 10 catches should be worth more than 2 points. Should be worth 5, but I'dd settle for something in the middle. Maybe 3.33 or whatever,

And we still need to figure out QB scoring. With the emergence of guys like Newton, Griffin, Vick, etc...running QB's are so much more valuable then "better" QB's like Manning, Cutler, Stafford because of the massive points they get for rushing while passing yards is still off kilter.
