I like both of these teams. Going with Last Option because Hawkman and Hawkgirl seem redundant to me.

This. a good example of Gator being Gator... it almost works and he could have done a simple thing to negate the Hawkman/hawkgirl i.e. have another hero with no hawk in their name and call them Abraham Lincoln (for example) and his hawks...

I don't really see a problem with having both Hawkman and Hawkgirl on the team, as 90% of the time that's how the two of them are portrayed anyways. Overall, to be a themed team, I think it's pretty well balanced, and kind of prefer it to a team of people who I don't actually see having anything that would link them to working to together. The last option really just feels like five guys thrown together. Shade is a villain almost more often then he's a hero, Hulk is a loner the majority of the time. Beast and Atom can pull the scientist card for working together, but Hellstrom seems slightly out of place working with them.

The Hawks nest may have some repetition of power sets, but it also seems to be a more natural teaming than the five random guys the last option seems to be. At least for me.

I don't know two of the Hawks, but Hawkman, Hawkeye, and Hawkgirl are all awesome.

Darkhawk is a very underrated badass (and one of my guiltiest pleasures in comics), and Firehawk can create and control nuclear fire. So there's that. It was between her and Bloodhawk from X-Men 2099.
