Before everyone runs off and hides until training camps open, let's discuss possible rule changes for next year.

We had discussed scoring changes for quarterbacks and wide receivers, but the only change made was to add 0.2 points per catch (for WR/TE/RBs).

Knowing this, what suggestions do you guys have for scoring changes in the coming year. I'd like to get suggestions made, a poll created and voted on by the Super Bowl.

So fire away for the next two weeks. The most popular ideas will end up in the poll, and then the vote will take place for a week after that. Democracy rules.

Also, Brad (deadly) has stepped up to replace Mikey as co-commissioner. Mike will probably continue as a team manager, but if not we have guys who asked about getting spots from last year. Finally, if you're NOT going to play next year, speak up now so we can replace you.

Wow. I have not a single one of those guys listed on my roster. No wonder my team sucked so much ass.

I'll be back next year. I don't think we need any rule changes, but I'm unlikely to argue against any proposals unless they're ridiculous or being made for the sake of making changes.

I'll propose (again) that if you drop a player and another team picks them up, the "keeper value" of that player is an end of the draft pick. Works that way in every other league, and makes more sense. A cut player is a free agent. Period.

Of course, if we enact that rule it won't take affect until the draft after next...

I'd like to raise the PPR to .5 ideally with a cap of 5 points for anything over 10 catches, but I'd be willing to settle for .33 PPR with no cap.

The free agent thing keeper thing is tough because of injuries and stuff. Hypothetically, if I draft Robert Griffin III in the first round and he gets hurt so I cut him because I can't keep him someone else can then pick him up and keep him for basically the rest of his career.

I'd also really like to add a flex position.

That's why the IR position exists. As an owner, you have to make those calls.

Also, I second the flex spot. 2 RBs, 2 WRs, and a flex. I'd be fine with flex being either RB/WR or RB/WR/TE.

I actually would rather add a Flex instead of making the 3rd WR spot a Flex.

I guess that makes sense with regards to the injured reserve slot, but I do think there's a loophole there to be exploited, but I'm not sure what it is right now.

If we do make the keeper change or the added flex change, I would like to expand rosters by 1 or 2.

I'm not a PPR fan but I won't die on my sword.

That free agent thing was why I thought I was so smart to scoop up Brady a few years ago. *Sigh*. But I think changing the rules is tough when you have so many potential keepers.

Most flex spots are RB/WR. Some are RB/WR/TE. QBs don't get added to the mix because QBs way outscore the other positions.

At this point, I'm in favor of a Flex instead of a 3rd WR spot, a cut player becoming a free agent, and I'm fine with .33 points per catch.

Good conversation, guys. Keep the ideas coming. The only thing I want to add at this point is that we can't cap points, Dev suggested. ESPN does not offer that option.

As for the drafted player/dropped/free agent keeper value, I really suggest keeping the rule as is. The reason was based more on the baseball league, where we have 20+ rounds and players have longer careers. I don't feel it's fair for someone to find such a Keeper gem because someone else was dumb enough to drop a career star. I also think it would be rare for it to happen in football, so if that's a rule change the majority would agree to I would not stop it.

Bottom line, for a rule to change it has to 1) Have enough support in this thread to be considered for a vote and 2) then receive a majority of the league to vote for the rule. In my mind, if we put a rule to a vote and only two people vote 1) I failed in putting the rule to vote to begin with and 2) the league proved they didn't care enough to make a change.

FYI: I will get the 2012 season results to Mikey in the next day or so, and he said he'd distribute money via LeagueSafe soon after.

I would be interested in a flex position as well instead of a third WR.

I was initially against any PPR, but wouldn't be opposed to .33 PPR if that decision is made.

I am not in favor of changing any free agent type rules when it comes to keepers. I think we have two IR slots, but sometimes, shit happens, and I'd rather not give someone a free shot at someone's entire career who's pretty decent just because I happen to have a ton of injuries and they didn't.

Other than the WR's point changes with PPR, I would not be in favor of changing the points for any other position.

If we get a flex position, then I am in favor of it being WR/RB/TE. I do NOT want to add a flex along with the 3 WR. In a 12 man league, its hard enough to fill slots as it is.

I plan on returning next season.

I'll put up poll(s) next week. We'll definitely vote on a flex position and reception points. One thing to note: The league scoring is based on the play, not the position. So all receptions will score points, regardless of whether they are caught by receivers, tight ends or running backs. So while this will mainly increase receiver scoring, it will also increase the scoring for tight ends and running backs.
