Old School Revolution Press Event Report
NOT by Adam Martin, exclusively found on WrestleView.com.
G-B: Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we have another great night planned for all of our Old School Revolution fans. Later tonight, we will name the final participant in the Television Title Ladder Match at “Shattered,” as Eugene will take on Ricky Marvin! We will also have some more backstage interviews to see here tonight, as we will say goodbye to Becky Bayless. As you know, Becky had been providing backstage interviews for us, but did so on a pay per appearance basis. Thanks to her exposure here in OSR, she has been highly sought after, and drafted by Alexander and Alexis Darling to join the BGFYW. [Editor’s note: Why? Because go fuck yourself, that’s why!] But, first up this evening, we have secured some great footage of an outstanding athlete, a man who has already secured one of the six coveted spots in the Television Title Ladder Match, Kota Ibushi!
Lights fade and the crowd’s attention is turned to the video screens.
As the lights come back up, the crowd realizes that Ibushi is in the center of the ring, and they immediately break into a standing ovation for his athleticism and desire. But before Ibushi can do anything, the crowd’s cheers are interrupted.
Cue familiar baseline, cue light scheme, cue familiar Yabba Doo! John Cena has entered the United Center!
John Cena: Well look at this. Kota Ibushi. Damn dude, those are some great highlights. I was genuinely impressed. Hell, I’d be willing to admit that I can’t do half of that stuff, but I’d be lying. ‘Cause I can’t do one damn thing you did in that video. But it doesn’t matter that I can’t do that stuff—because I don’t have to! I don’t need all that flip and flash, Ibushi. I say screw flip and flash, I just kick your ass! Because you can jump, you can flip, you can throw a smaller man over your head, but you know what you can’t do? YOU CAN’T SEE ME! [Crowd boos Cena for finally busting that catch phrase out.]
Ibushi tried to waive Cena off, indicating he didn’t come for a fight.
John Cena: What’s wrong Ibushi? You don’t like what I have to say? [Ibushi shakes his head no.] Because I don’t care how you feel about me. I don’t care what a single damn person in this arena thinks about me. So Kota, you want some? Come get some? [Ibushi still backs down from the fight, not even in his ring gear for this evening.]
Just as Cena continues to advance towards Cena, the familiar sound of glass breaking [Shattering?] echoes through the arena. “Stone Cold” makes his way to the ring!
Steve Austin: [Looking directly at Cena.] John Cena. [Crowd: “What?”] Kota Ibushi. [ “What?”] Kota Ibushi. [ “What?”] John Cena! [ “What?”] [Austin glares into the crowd, as if to tell them he actually has something to say.] John Cena, you come out here, spouting off about how important you are. How you were the second pick in the draft. Well, son, ‘ole Stone Cold has some news for you…you were picked second in the draft because Steve Austin went #1. [ “What?”] Steve Austin’s got the first PPV named after him. [ “What?”] And you can betchyer ass that at “Shattered,” Steve Austin is going to open up a supersized can of Whoop Ass all over John Cena!
John Cena: Oh wait, since Ibushi won’t fight me, you're out here looking for a fight?
Steve Austin: Well, hell, I figured you knew this John, but Stone Cold rarely comes looking…for a fight. The fight usually finds Stone Cold.
John Cena: Well then the fight...just found you!
Cena swings at Stone Cold, barely connecting with his face. Both men begin go brawl it out on their feet, until Austin goes for the Stunner and gets pushed into the corner by Cena. The same corner where Kota Ibushi stands. As Austin comes into the corner, Ibushi goes up top and flips over backwards over Stone Cold, landing on his feet, with his back to John Cena. Cena stands there with a shocked look on his face, so Kota hits a Back-flip Pele Kick to the back of Cena’s head. This sends Cena to the outside, staggered. Ibushi slingshots himself to the top rope, and shoots off with a Shooting Star Press onto Cena, standing on the floor. With this, Ibushi celebrates and heads to the back.
Cena gets back up, and is met with a Lou Thesz press from Austin off of the ring apron. Repeated right hands to the head from Austin to Cena take their toll until Atlas Security pulls both men apart. As they are dragged to the back, G-B is seen yelling at Cena, seemingly about Cena always interrupting the press events as he pleases.
The lights fade and screens light up, and two words appear…”Cosmic Bowling!"
A highlight video package from Cosmis Bowling is shown, with the following highlights (in order):
- The No Remorse Corps bowling, showing Davey Richards’ abysmal skills.
- Eugene is picking out shoes (that don’t match each other) at the counter.
- John Cena joins Jason Blade and Kenny King for a bowling game, as fans surround Cena’s lane.
- A wide shot of the pool-hall is shown, and as it closes in, we see that The API are tearing through the pool-hall, screaming for the NRC.
- As Kerry Von Erich, special guest from SJW Lacey Von Erich and Frankie Kazarian bowl, Jerry Lawler walks behind with both of his world championships, held and displayed by Jade Chung.
- Eugene is shown having the highest score of the evening (282) and Davey Richards is shown having the lowest (107).
- We see Steve Corino and Becky Bayless talking, not paying attention to Eugene, who is bowling for all three of them.
- Before the cameras are shoved away, Erick Stevens is seen talking to Doug Furnas & Phil Lafon, and the conversation is getting heated.
- Kenny King has decided to bowl shirtless, and attracts an even bigger crowd.
- The No Remorse Corps catch-up to the API, but the odds are against them and they take a beating at the hands of the island group.
The lights come back-up, and G-B is in the ring with Eugene (accompanied by Steve Corino) and Ricky Marvin. Ladies and gentlemen, this match is scheduled for one fall, and is for the final spot in the ladder match ladder match at Revolution One "Shattered." Introducing first, from Veracruz, Mexico, weighing in at 170 lbs…Riiiiiiicky Maaaarrrrrrvin! And his opponent, from Louisville, Kentucky, weighing in at 240 lbs…Euuuuuugene!
Eugene insists on shaking hands with all of the ringside fans, taking so long it frustrated Steve Corino.
The match is exciting, with Marvin controlling things early using his amateur background. Eugene eventually fights out of the predicament, and begins the hulking up process. As Eugene mounts the trademark comeback, the fans get behind him as well. Corino goes by the ropes, and yells for Eugene to sent Marvin to the ropes. Marvin reverses and sends Eugene into Corino, thus allowing Marvin to hit the Santa Maria Driver on Eugene for the 1-2-3.
G-B: Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of the match…a man who will now participate in the 6-main ladder match at “Shattered”, Ricky Marvin!
The press event ends with Eugene walking out with Steve, and the cameras pick up the audio as we hear Corino telling Eugene it was an accident, and Eugene yelling "no accident" to Corino over and over again. Eugene storms off, and Corino follows behind, still pleading his case.
