Old School Revolution AMP’d, Episode 9 – Live on Spike TV!
Presented by AMP Energy Drinks
From the Rose Garden on Portland, Oregon
I’m breaking format here, just to save time. It may or may not be permanent, we’ll see. I want to keep this going, so the chance was necessary.[/b]
We open the show with a video package focusing on all of the events leading up to Revolution 3: All Hail the King. We then head backstage to see Bryan Danielson reviewing an official OSR rulebook in preparation for tonight’s main event.
Danielson is soon interrupted by Steve Austin! Austin tells Danielson that he knows a thing or two about being a guest referee, and he’s going to offer some unsolicited advice...
Steve Austin: ...There are two types of guest referees. Those who referee the match, and those who make a statement. You decide which one you want to be.
Bryan Danielson: Maybe I can be both.
Danielson walks off, as Austin stares him down. We head to commercial
Commercial
We return from commercial with a video package detailing the issues between The Embassy and Ibushi & Marvin from the last show. Jessica announces that the based on these events, we will have Kota Ibushi & Ricky Marvin vs. The Embassy of Daniel Puder & Bam Bam Bigelow at Rev3. Mike Goldberg, joined on commentary by Becky Bayless, announces that on PPV, it will be one tag team from the API vs. one tag team from the No Remorse Corps, as chosen by their respective factions. The other 4 members of each group will remain at ringside, and it will be a Lumberjack Tag Team Match! Steve Corino joins the commentary team, immediately making Becky uncomfortable. Eugene and Jade Chung are sitting with Corino as well.
John Cena vs. Afa Anoa’i, Jr.
This match is very hard hitting, with Corino rooting for Afa, Jr. all the way. Cena seems to have things won when Eugene makes his way to the ring. The referee is distracted by Eugene, allowing Corino to paste Cena with a chair. Afa, Jr. gets the pin after 11 minutes of action.
Winner: Afa Anoa’i, Jr., Corino chairshot pinfall
Cena leaves the ring area, pissed, but doesn’t confront Corino. Cena makes it to the stage, and points to Corino, in the aisle. He mouths the world “that belt is mine.”
Before we break for commercial, the No Remorse Corps are out to attack Afa, Jr! This brings out the API, and we have a pier six brawl! The brawl ends with Afa being put through a table, and The No Remorse Corps leaving, happy with their work.
Commercial
Kevin Steen is in the ring! Steen calls G-B, who gets on the stage. Steen reminds everyone that Corino needed Eugene to take Steen out of the ladder match to win the TV title, and that Lawler’s foot fell under the ropes in the tournament. Steen claims he’d be a double champion if it weren’t for bad luck, and he demands a title shot, G-B announces that this coincides well with his initiative to sign some new talent, one who he wants to debut on PPV. DashBee makes Steen vs. the new acquisition at Rev3, and the winner will get a World Heavyweight Title shot at Rev4.
Kevin Steen: I don’t care who the champion is, I’m leaving Rev4 with that World Heavyweight Title firmly around my waist.
[...Glass breaks...]
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin makes his way to the ring to confront Steen! We pick up the confrontation at the end...
Steve Austin: ... So you think it’s a done deal, you’re winning the title at Rev4, huh? Unh Unh! You see, that means you’d be facing old’ Stone Cold on PPV, because I’m leaving Rev3 with the title. And I damn sure ain’t losing it to anyone one month later, especially you! And that’s the bottom line, because Stone Cold said so!
Austin is hit from behind by Jerry Lawler and the World Heavyweight Title belt! Steen backs away, standing in the corner, watching. Lawler unloads on Austin, then picks him up for a piledriver on the title! Steen stays out of it, and hands Lawler the title. Lawler starts to walk away, turning back to look at Steen. Steen takes Lawler down! Steen then goes crazy on Lawler, eventually hitting him with the Package Piledriver! Steen kisses the championship belt before he leaves for the back.
Jessica is in the back with Bad Company, who are in street clothes, each with a baseball bat, ready for their upcoming Bunkhouse Match on PPV. The YRR shows up in workout gear to stake their claim to winning that match. The two teams stand off, but do not come to blows. They all agree to settle their issue this weekend, on PPV.
Commercial
Kenta Kobashi vs. “Addicted to Love” Rhett Titus
A small screen shows Von Erich beating Titus two weeks ago in a 9 minute match. Goldberg & Bayless tell everyone that Kobashi requested this match to show Von Erich that he can do him one better. Kobashi does just that, destroying Titus in just over 6 minutes.
Winner: Kenta Kobashi, Backdrop Driver pinfall
Before we head to commercial, we get a video package of all tag team highlights. The package ends focused on two brand new OSR World Tag Team Title belts, with a simple tag line of “Coming Soon.”
Commercial
Mike Goldberg, Becky Bayless & Jessica Hatch run down the PPV card for this weekend, and our main event follows!
”The Original Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers vs. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz
Special referee: “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson
Danielson calls the match down the middle, being one of the most strict refs ever. Both opponents are continually frustrated by it. After about 15 entertaining minutes, Danielson is getting shoved into the corner by both opponents. Danielson yells at them “You both want to push me, fine! You’re both disqualified!” Danielson signals for the bell.
Winner: Double Disqualification
As soon as the bell rings, Danielson nails both men with roaring elbows! He then locks on the Cattle Mutiliation on Ortiz, and when he flips into the move, he locks his legs around Ortiz for a choke! Danielson soon leaves both men lying in the ring, looking at he camera and proclaiming himself the “Best Referee in the World!”
We get a video package for Revolution 3 and we’re out!
