I think 3/4 of the matches are Triple Threats. Those are fun, but not over and over.

I hate the ME. Brock needs someone better to go up against. Hogan is not that guy.

is Foley even in a match? I understand the guest ref role, but still, he's one of your better names (and I think he's vastly overrated , but still) He should be on the card somewhere.

Sting Umaga. Sting had great matches with Vader and Cactus, and I think Umaga can have a comparable match.

The tag match of the LOD imposters, Demolition vs the LOD imposters, Droz & Heidenreich makes me smile

Dislike:

I LOVELOVELOVE battle Royals. but in these they just don't work.

And a tag match going on after the Tag title match? Boo.

Results for Triple Trouble--

#1-- High-flying triple tag
Intense, acrobatic action-- naturally. In the end, Kendrick sets up Mistico with the Sliced Bread, then Barr gets the pin with the frog splash.

#2-- Triple Tag Hardcore Match
Brutality from start to finish... In the end Kendrick comes out and waffles Jacobs from behind and pulls the KOd Sandman on top of him for the three.

When he comes to, Sandman is as angry as Jacobs-- which is clearly just what Kendricks was counting on, as he points to his head while backing up the ramp.

#3-- Man versus Beast!
A rollicking brawl, punch versus punch... Both men are worn down and worn out when Bruiser finally keeps him down for three.

Bruiser seems exhilirated by the fight and by the level of competition, so when Brian Hebner raises his hand, Bruiser grabs "Animal"s hand and raises it as well, and then gives him the universal "everybody give it up for" point.

[Batman]

The first kindness he's experienced for-- well, who knows how long he's been caged?-- it overwhelms "Animal" with emotion. He hugs Bruiser and asks "Friend? Friend?"... Bruiser replies "Why sure an' we're frens!"

If this fails to move you near to tears, your heart is obviously made of icy rocks-- much like the heart of Rob Corddrey, who is SO appalled by the warm feelings and good sportsmanship on display that he is almost too stunned to order his giants to attack. Almost.

The competitors are so worn down by their tough match that the behemoths Big Ron Reese and Giant Gonzales make short work of destroying them... (There's also the fact that the bad guys are wearing brass knuckles...)

After the rotters triumphantly retreat up the ramp, leaving their enemies laying in their own blood, Cyndi can be heard trying to revive Bruiser...

CYNDI: Oh, Bruizah! What have they done t'yuh?

How can I help? What do you need?

BRUISER: gimme a... Gimme a... ...

BRUISER: GIMME A BEER!

(And if you thought he was maybe going to say "a kiss" or even "spinach"-- that just means you've been paying attention!)

Cyndi brings Bruiser a beer and cracks it for him which revives him almost immediately! He does the traditional beer-guzzling celebration-- except Bruiser actually likes beer, so he doesn't spill most of it down his chest...

"Animal" also comes to and indicates interest in joining in. Cyndi waggles her finger in broad pantomime of "I doubt that you're sufficiently developmentally advanced for it to be responsible to let you have alcohol," but she gives him a root beer and he exultantly joins in the guzzling and posing-- to the crowd's delight.

Annnnd that should be the end, except this was WAY not the main event.

Moving right along...

#4-- Minneapolis Cup, 2nd round-- one-on-one
Eddie Sharkey is a sly old vet, full of tricks. But it's not enough to counter Robinson's skill. The series is 1-1 and headed to a climax!

#5-- Fabulous Triple-threat!
Starts out with all three men attempting to out-mince one another, to the delight of the crowd...
Then the match moves past the stalling to fast-paced technical action-- rapid-fire exchanges of holds and throws. Lane gets dumped out of the ring, and Street takes the opportunity to lock on a submission hold. But Grey reverses it into a crucifix drop pin for 3!

The winner grabs a mic and slides back into the ring. He rips the powdered wig off his head, spikes it to the mat, then grinds it under his boot!

GREY: I'm done! No more makeup, no more wig! I lived up to our bet, cause I'm no welsher, and I played the role to the hilt, cause that's the kind of professional I am! But the month is up and I'm done! And I'd appreciate it if everyone would be so kind as to resume referring to me as "Oliver Grey"...

(People --being bastards-- immediately begin chanting "Earl! Grey! Hot!"... Earl Grey Hot was fun! Grey angrily stomps backstage...)

#6-- Armageddon Crown Triple-threat
Back-and-forth battle filled with dirty dealing and shenanigans. Far more than LT can handle. The end sees George hit the rolling flying hiplock on Ladd. At that moment Abdullah attacks George's valet Jeffries with the fork. George leaps to his defense and Lawler steals the pin. Lawler has the Armageddon Crown! Lawler and Abdullah put the boots to George and Jeffries until... It's "Shoot to Thrill"! Mickie Knuckles makes the save! Lawler retreats w Abdullah by his side and Armageddon Crown in hand!

#7 Brass Ring Ladder match
Barr comes down to do guest commentary. The match is all of the laddery goodness you might imagine... In the end, Rob Van Dam climbs the ladder and seizes the Brass Ring.

As he poses atop the ladder, holding the Ring high in the air, Barr climbs up and stands on the announce table and holds high in the air.... a skeleton key? With a phoenix symbol on it?

What is the Phoenix Key?

What does it all mean?!?!

... Cut to a commotion in the back. Mankind, Jacobs, Kendrick, and Sandman are shoving and indistinctly shouting.... Until Mankind grabs a microphone:

MANKIND: ENOUGH! enough. if tonight is the night that mankind's family must fall apart then LET'S DO IT RIGHT! LET'S DO IT right in the middle of that ring. and since i am the final judge and arbiter of mankind, how appropriate is it that i'm already in a zebra shirt?

#8-- Mankind implodes match
the three men brutalitize each other with no end in sight, each of them getting frustrated and pushy with the ref, until Mankind has had enough and lays all three men out with Barbie and retreating to the back while laughing maniacally...

(I just realized-- the members of "For Mankind" are the Three Faces of Foley. Jacobs is Mankind, Sandman is Cactus, and Kendricks is Dude Love. I didn't even do that shit on purpose! That was totally subconscious!)

#9-- the Main Event-- Double Elimination match for the Batman World Championship!
Earl Hebner is your referee for the title match and he holds the Batman World Championship high above his head!
The action begins and it's back and forth for a few minutes, then Lesnar begins to gets several near falls and submissions that are interrupted by the other man. Then Hogan and Canek start to work together to take Lesnar out of the equation. They brawl to the outside and do a double vertical suplex, putting Lesnar though the announce table.
Rolling back in, they finally have the ring to themselves. After several minutes of back-and-forth, Canek gets Hogan up for the Argentine Torture rack drop. He hits it... 1... 2... Hogan kicks out! He puts Hogan up on his back again. He hits it again! 1... 2... 3! Hogan takes the first fall, but the match goes on!
Canek is beating on Hogan, and then he starts to Hulk up.... In Canek's attempts to stop the process, there's a ref bump. Earl is out! Suddenly...

[Batman]

...Suddenly, Mankind's music hits! He's still wearing his referee shirt! Everyone in the ring is down except for Mankind... He starts mocking Hogan-- posing and putting his hand to his ear. The crowd doesn't know HOW to react! He hits Hogan's legdrop on Hogan! He drapes Canek over him. One... Two... CANEK ROLLS OFF HOGAN! HE DOESN'T WANT TO WIN THAT WAY!
Mankind doesn't take too kindly to his largesse being spurned in this manner-- he turns on Canek and gives him a DDT from the apron ALL THE WAY to the floor!
This has gone too far. Batman's music (the TV theme) hits. Batman appears on the ramp and calls for a horde of security. Mankind fights like a wildman, but the numbers are too much-- they escort him backstage... The doctor concludes that Canek is unable to continue...

Then Lesnar rises from the rubble. Hogan is already once-eliminated and beat down. Lesnar has zero falls and he's fresh-- it's a slaughter.
F5... 1... 2... 3.
Lesnar retains the Batman World Championship.

I am super happy that someone caught that. I wasn't sure if it would resonate for anyone. I wanted to be able to give some background for the matches beforehand, but am just too busy to do anymore write ups for this thing going forward unfortunately. Hell, I'm barely having enough time to vote in these. (but I will)


Oh, and Sharky, if I had the time to do the write ups, the tag match after the tag title match would have made more sense, as it was supposed to be a surprise match added the night of the show. The Dungeon of Doom would have attacked LOD lite after their loss, while mocking the not scheduled to be there Road Warriors, only for them to show up and chase them off, with them challenging any two members of DOD to step up and face them that evening, setting up the later tag match.
