I've always thought Red Skull was lame. Poison Ivy commits crimes by making people want to fuck her. And her kiss kills people. I'm voting for the whore.

I completely see where you're coming from. I had a similar issue with Darkseid--isn't he basically more a fascist dictator than a supervillain? But the same could be said of Dr. Doom, except that Doom is a supervillain first and only happens to also be a dictator. I feel that Skull is the same way--sure he's a Nazi, but he's a supervillain first. A regular Nazi might be motivated by a lot of things--anti-semitism as a cover for paranoid insecurity being a prime example--but the old canard about "hating our freedom" isn't normally very relevant. But Skull hates Jews and such mostly as an afterthought. Mainly he hates equality, liberty, and all of the best ideals of the USA, and Captain America as their representative and embodiment. He's the perfect adversary for Cap, which is why he keeps coming back.

Hey Tex, where's your "argument" for Ivy?

I loved Uma in that role. Don't get me wrong. But I don't bring out the "argument" for everybody. I have fond memories when I was much younger watching Julie Newmar and Lynda Carter on my tv - and that is why they, or their characters, got the pictorial treatment and the major advocacy on my end.

Besides....Sal appears more poised to make the "argument" for Poison Ivy.

I liked Uma and also the cartoon version of Ivy in the Batman series that ran on the WB about 10 years ago. I don't even know who Red Skull is. Captain America villain right? That movie has come out yet so I haven't been caught up yet.

The cool thing about Skull, in my opinion, is even the other bad guys don't like him because of his Nazi background. So he can't even get decent alliances going and ends up fighting other bad guys as well. Magneto. Kingpin. These guys ain't small potatos and they're giving Skull the big "fuck you".

I said most of what I had to say about Skull in my previous post. But Texas brings up a good point--he's too evil for most of the other bad-guys. I think I already told the story of him fighting/debating Kingpin for control of the NYC drug trade, but it's a great illustration of their respective POVs. Kingpin thinks of himself as a patriot and is a social darwinist, so he thinks the drug trade weeds out the weak and is good for America. Skull believes that our ideal of equality is our greatest weakness, and that through the drug trade he can demonstrate that and destroy us.

He brought Bucky back to life just so that he could kill him this time.

Yeah, he's real evil.
