We've made it to the semifinals, or the penultimate round (sorry OpTard - you reminded me that I frickin' hate that word also). This side of the brackets features DC's top guy, Joker, going up against Marvel's #2, Magneto.

This, in my mind, is the most intriguing and exciting matchup we've got. Winner, in my estimations, should take the whole thing. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

All time? Really? I've always thought he was kind of lame, though that might just be the purple jumpsuit.

I guess what I've liked about Magneto is he isn't your run of the mill "always a baddie" bad guy. There's a shade of gray (or grey - both spellings work ) to him that has always been intriguing. Whenever he was up to something, the X-Men's reaction wasn't the automatic "Oh shit it's Magneto - we gotta go kick his ass". Rather it was (seemingly) more often than not "let's figure out what he's up to, it's probably bad, but we need to know what he's trying to do before we kick his ass."

Despite Magneto having an ultimately different goal than the X-Men, sometimes the means to their different goals were mutually beneficial.

I guess it comes down to a personal preference thing and if you dig the shade of grey vibe, Magneto's got it.

His name and costume might be sort of mockable, but he's one of the few supervillains with a genuinely rational and understandable motivation. Dude was radicalized by the Holocaust, man. Hard to blame him for going a little too far, considering all he's witnessed and survived.

Magneto does NOT wear a purple jumpsuit (except for when he was New Mutants headmaster). He wears a RED jumpsuit with a purple cape. The Joker wears a purple tux with red LIPSTICK. GAY.

Magneto also KILLED HIS SON with a giant piece of metal to the back of the head when he pissed him off. Sure, Quicksilver was quickly revived by his sister, but he still did it.

Magneto also KILLED HIS DAUGHTER. Zaladane, when she pissed him off. This was also during the time he was FUCKING ROGUE.

He also RULED A COUNTRY. Not with an iron fist, but because his followers (3 million mutants in Genosha) trusted him to be their leader.
