The votes are in, and the latest showdown is set to start! THE CARTOON SHOWDOWN! Relive those glory shows of your youth as you nominate them for the crown of bestest there is!*
* Disclaimer: Really, this should be called “The Kid’s Show Showdown!“. But as a thread title, it makes us all look like 1) parents who watch too much kids TV, 2) losers, or 3) pedophiles. Besides, CARTOON SHOWDOWN sounds cooler.
Which shows are eligible?
Two different types: The first is Kids Cartoons. Such as – oh, I don’t know, let me pick one totally at random, let’s see, how about – TRANSFORMERS!!!!!!!!
Ahem. I mean, cartoons such as Transformers, Silverhawks, GoBots, M.A.S.K., and the like.
The second type is Non-Cartoon Kids Shows. Usually, these are live action shows, such as Land of The Lost, The Great Space Coaster, Romper Room, Sesame Street, Electric Company and Hickory Hideout. The computer animated shows, such as War Planets and Beast Wars also have a home here.
Since the guidelines Tex laid down for the Superhero Showdown are easily adaptable and familiar to all here, we’re going to adopt those. Email me your top 16 and number them one through sixteen, I’ll seed ‘em bracket style, we’ll all vote through a number of rounds and an eventual winner will be crowned. We’ll have a discussion period, followed by actual voting.
Extras
I do need to mention The Sal Exception. This is for kid’s shows only. Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Simpsons and other adult cartoons ain’t eligible. Sorry.
“What about Japanese Shows?” you may ask. Some are kids shows (Yu-Gi-Oh), and others are for adults (Ghost In The Shell). I don’t think many of the controversial ones will be getting votes, since the ones from
Most of our youths (Tranzor Z, Spectreman, G-Force, Voltron, etc.) were obviously kids shows. If there are nominated shows that are borderline will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
So – everyone email me their top 16 by the end of day on Friday February 2nd Sunday, February 4th.
Everyone enjoy, and let me know if you have any questions.
