I'm a geek. I play Dungeons & Dragons. My wife and I are writing a story based on what we play. Still I've never watched this show so Doug gets my vote.

Scary isn't it?? I made her a geek. I feel a little ashamed about that actually.

Anyway my friends and I continued to play on the weekends and I was tryingt o get her involved. She tried a few times and she never really opened up. But then she read through one of my books describing Assassins and she got an idea. She made an Assassin and she really enjoyed playing as her (kinda scary actually). So now she pressure me to play so she can take notes and add it to her story about her Assassin and my group of Brothers who are offspring of my best charcter from High School. I might just have to post pieces of the story sometime for those interested.

The blond guy is the ranger. He's the natural leader in the group. He has a magic bow that shoots lightning arrows. The black-haired guy in orange is the cavalier. He's the schmuck. The guy who played Ralph Malph on Happy Days voices him. He has a magic shield that makes him pretty much invulnerable. The black girl is the acrobat; her staff boosts her agility. It glows when she's doing some acrobatic stunt. The white girl is the thief; her cloak makes her invisible, when she puts the hood up. The geek in the green hat is the wizard. He can pull things out of his hat. He rarely gets what he means to from it, though. The kid is the barbarian; his club gives him super-strength.

MTA: I have no idea who the guy in the suit is....

It's pretty much the same premise as Land of the Lost, a group of people (in this case a group of kids visiting an amusement park, instead of a family on a rafting trip) from the real world get trapped in an "imaginary" world, and spend every episode trying to find their way out.

Their guide is "the Dungeon Master" who gives them inscrutable fortune-cookie advice every episode:



Yeah, I know the DM is not a character in D&D. I picture Gary Gygax trying to explain this to the writers and them being like "yeah, dude, sorry, it's just too cool a name not to use."

The main bad guy was called "Venger," but once in a while they'd run into Tiamat, who was much cooler:

I thought Doug was a well written show. Not my cup of tea, but I watched it with my little sister, and found no negative aspects in it. D&D, didn't really care for, despite playing the games.
