Yeah, if you've already talked to Dev about this one, then I withdraw my protest. But my understanding was no real people. I've never seen the movie so I can't tell if it was a parody or not.
We had discussed real people being eligible if it was enough fictional license in the portrayal. The biggest example is Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. I have not seen this movie so I don't know if it's a pure biographical movie or if there are enough creative liberties done to make it a clearly fictionalized version of Ted Bundy. I'd appreciate anyone else to weigh in if they've seen the movie and their opinion and/or if you have issues with that pick. With clocks pausing tomorrow anyway, hopefully I'll have a decision soon enough that it won't cause any issues.
I have not seen the film either. But I read a synopsis and it seems pretty close to reality and was based on a memoir of Bundy‘s ex-girlfriend. So that seems to be rooted in reality of the real person. Per the rules, I’d say it’s invalid.
One other comment for now, Cletus, there are other versions of Bundy that I wouldn't question based on quick reviews of their version of the movie not holding too close to 100% accurate re-tellings. (Bundy: American Icon, American Boogeyman, and there might be others) So if it's a matter of just getting Ted Bundy, we can make that work but if it's specifically this version, I would still like other opinions especially if people have seen this movie.
I just want to be clear on this, this is allowed because it’s a comic based clearly fictionalized version of the character. If a wrestler has appeared in comics, cartoons, etc as a clear fictionalized version of the gimmick, it counts. Wrestling itself does not count as a fictional form of media for the purposes of this because then it becomes a matter of where we draw the line between John Cena the person and John Cena the wrestler. Even absurdist gimmicks like The Undertake become a blur because of portions of the run when he was American Bad Ass or MMA Taker. So Raw/Smackdown/Dynamite/Nitro can not be used as the basis of the pick. But a comic book like this will push it enough beyond the limits of wrestler gimmick.
