Were Angle & Benoit really a tag team? They were a storyline device NOT a team.

No Mercy 2002 and the subsequent rematch on Smackdown two weeks later disagree.

If they were pitted against a better tag team, I'd be tempted to go against them. But Mr. Ass and the Road Dogg aren't exactly imposing competition. Not in my book, anyway.

Say what you will about Billy Gunn and Road Dogg. They were a VERY entertaining team for quite a while leading into the Attitude Era. And I'm with M-Kid... Angle/Benoit weren't a team very long at all. No way I'm voting for them here.

In the ring NAO were lacking but they had great heat. They go over two singles wrestlers based on the stregth of their in ring introductions alone. Angle & Benoit are great wrestlers but as a team they were a storyline device. A handful of matches as a team does not make them a Top 64 tag team in my book.

The New Age Outlaws made you hate them in a good way. One of my best memories: Busting the stereo over the head of one of the Headbangers.

I find it more unbelievable that ten people would vote for Angle/Benoit over them.

Guess that month and a half run as a tag team and two week title run really set the world afire.

Not so much the two week title reign and two months tag time total, but the fucking AWESOME matches they put on in those two months I'm guessing is what some people are voting for. I can't blame them.

Seriously, what's unbelievable about 20 (21!) votes for the Outlaws? They WERE a great tag team that was the best in wrestling at a time. They did help make the DX Army something memorable. They did have one of the most over catchphrases in wrestling history. And for each of their flaws as wrestlers they were both pretty decent tag wrestlers in their prime who worked great together. They suck now and have sucked for awhile. They were born out of sucking. But for a shining moment the stars aligned and we got a great tag team that got over all on its own and became one of the most popular acts of the Attitude Era.

At least its not Too Cool.


And Angle/Benoit simply isn't a real tag team and I couldn't bring myself to vote for them. Even with my stated hypocrisy on this issue with Benoit/Pillman.

I'd vote for Too Cool over a couple of teams.

I actually liked Too Much and when they went wigger instead of gay I was pleased as a young wigger myself. They were a decently talented young team for awhile there. And like most annoying pandering acts their annoying act started fun and just got old. Christopher just self destructed and Taylor seemed to forget how to work and just did the Worm. But I'd vote them over any team with Brutus Beefcake.

Too Cool as heels were good. Once they became faces they got boring fast. That seems to happen a lot.
