Not showing disrespect, just seeing certain people that look like they're in bad health isn't a turn on. But he's back rasslin' with Smash, so I guess his shit's still strong. And according to wiki it wasn't exactly heart trouble, but it's wiki so whatever.

I voted for Benoit and Malenko, but Dmolition is the higher ranked team. I don't see the big deal about them winning. Obvious, enough people liked them to include them pretty high on their list which is why they are higher ranked to begin with.

But that's the motto for ALL Showdowns. "Everything that you agree with is simply wrong and I won't hear of it. You are an idiot for thinking that way."

Well in fairness I have no idea how Demolition is reasonable a top 16 tag team all time either. That just blows my mind. Two fat no talent shlubs ripping off a legendary tag team and dressed up like middle-aged homos with a leather and bondage fetish? And a big argument for them is a really bad attempt at an '80s metal theme song?

I mean, I know Moose is such an over the top fan of gay '80s metal that he even liked Black fucking Reign but I didn't realize enough of the board was to get these guys so high. And I don't wanna just go and blame "WWE Bias" on it because this showdown has actually seemed pretty balanced all things considered.

Then again I never called anyone an idiot for thinking differently than me. I just think some people's taste in wrestling really sucks. But I also think some people unfortunately had too much of their wrestling exposure come from the mind of Vince McMahon during his cartoon phase that eventually nearly destroyed his company.

EDIT: And, you know, a team I love with 2 guys who are almost universally regarded as 2 of the greatest wrestlers of all time are going to lose to a pair of fat leather trannies who wrestle so poorly they make me long for a good Cena poop joke promo.

I'm not sure what to say. Obviously, some people on the board grew up NWA/WCW fans - others grew up WWF. It's a good bet that the WWF fans didn't know much about the Road Warriors until they were brought in as the LOD. Even with all that knowledge now, it doesn't mean that people are going to push aside what they grew up with. If they grew watching and liking Demolition, then that's that. I mean, I grew up a Braves fan, and you dn't see me cheering for another team that is better, I mean, I'm not Moose.

MTA: I can easily compare this situation with my little brother's taste in wrestling. He loves John Cena, Randy Orton, Undertaker, and Great Khali. It doesn't matter who he likes 10 years from now when he's my age. But he'll remember liknig those guys when he was younger, so he'll have a soft spot for them. At this point, every match is a great match and he's able to enjoy it, no matter the limitations of each worker.

It's easily comparable to that era in wrestling. I don't know how old everyone was, but when Demolition was at their pick, I was about 3 or 4 years old, so I remember none of that. However, when Benoit and Malenko arrived on the scene, I was 11 or 12 and was able to relate more to them. Some people just like Deomlition. I don't think it has anything to do with what they wear, or how they wrestle, but at the time, they were consider badasses, pretty cool, a good tag team, etc. We are able to look back on them in an unfavorable light, but in their prime, no matter how much they "sucked" they were seen as a good tag team.

Obviously noone expects people to lose what they liked as children. On the other hand no matter how much I may have liked Voltron as a child as an adult I can plainly see it sucks balls. More experiences and more sophisticated tastes have shown me that there's better.

Nostalgia is nothing more than the love of shit that sucked ass. Because if it had genuine worth than its just "appreciation."

But as I said, I GET that this board has a majority of WWF fans who grew up in the '80s and thus have attachments to both the good stuff from that era and the pure wrestlecrap. And that the fans of NWA, WCW, ECW, ROH, and whatever else are too spread thin to push through guys who may never have gotten that exposure past guys who had the Vince machine behind them.

The WWF/E Bias basically killed the Wrestler showdown for me. This is simply the first time in the tag showdown that something that seems like it should be a slam dunk to me has turned into a WWF win I find insane.

I don't know, Eric. I certainly understand why your little brother likes Great Khali now but if 15 years from now he's still a wrestling fan and still think Khali is cool and better than Chris Benoit than he might just be retarded.

And just another thing: Benoit and Malenko are cosnidered two of the greatest wrestlers ever. But that doesn't neccessarily mean that they are liked by all. I know plenty of people who find Benoit and Malenko boring. These same people are fans of technical, submission type wrestling, either, but then we're criticizing people for their taste.

And just becaue Benoit and Malenko are two of the great wrestlers to lace 'em up doesn't automatically qualify them as the "better" tag team. Yes, I voted for them, but I can see the argument for Demolition, who's tag team resume can be compared to Benoit and Malenko's, if I recall correctly.

mta: Lucky, I think that line of thinking is generally uncalled for. Especially seeing how he only watched for about 2 years of Benoit and he found him boring then. It's quite possible that he would find him boring 15 years later. He may not be a fan of that style.

Not to be an ass or anything but isn't criticizing subjective opinions the point?

Maybe dxb was onto something and we should go one step further. Conceal the results of the polls and lock the threads so noone can comment, because commenting naturally leads to people expressing dissatisfaction with the results of the poll which seems to naturally lead to people being bothered that anyone has criticized subjective opinion in a showdown designed to set subjective opinions against each other.


EDIT: Eric, if you think I was calling your brother retarded 15 years in the future I apologize. It was a lighthearted comment meant to express the fact that Khali is a talentless sack of shit and while I can understand children being in awe of his size I would think experienced fans would recognize his complete inability to do even the most basic things at an adequate level.

I'm not too terribly bothered. Like I said, we certainly share the same taste in wrestling, and we both voted for the same guys. But I think moaning "the two best wrestlers are gonig to lose to some fat overweight men who sucked"...well, it rubs me the wrong way. Wrong enough for me to try to defend them, even though we share the same opinion.
