How often do we rewatch matches from the 80s? I still like Demolition and to me they aren't bad workers. But I haven't rewatched many of their matches. I own the matches from Summerslams and Wrestlemanias and they seemed alright. The one that sticks out in my mind as being great is 2 out of the 3 falls against Hart Foundation. Is it mainly because of the Harts? Probably. But Demo played the part.

And Eric is right for one thing about the Road Warriors rip off. The first time I saw the Warriors was as LOD. And if you really wanted ripoffs of the Warriors it wasn't Demolition it was Powers of Pain. The Powers of Pain had the same haircuts and face paint.

Lucky, just to clarify, I am NOT trying to change your vote. But at the very least, I am trying to get you to stand a little closer to where I'm standing, and that is liking Benoit and Malenko, voting for them, but being able to see the very real argument for Demolition. I don't expect you to classify them as the best team of all time or 5 star match workers, but, even comparing them to the greatness of Malenko and Benoit, I don't think they are complete shit either. That's all my argument is trying to do.

I don't think I will ever stand closer to you on this because I DO think they are complete shit. I'm not a LOD/Warriors fan either, really. But as best as I can tell from both historical record and what I've watched Demolition is nothing more than a 2nd rate copy because Vince couldn't get the real thing. Their popularity was basically killed by the arrival of the real thing in WWF. As much as tag wrestling can cover up the flaws of shitty wrestlers Demolition has always struck me as shitty wrestlers even for tag wrestling and big men groups.

And yeah, they look like trannies. Which seems to me like a reasonable argument to make because their look is clearly a huge part of what they were. And just like it cracks me up when Rob Halford laughs at millions of bikers who had no idea he was a homosexual when they chose to dress like him I can crack up at the idea that guys dressed like THAT were "cool" and "bad ass" anywhere other than Fire Island and S&M clubs.

Suffice it to say that my opinion that Demolition are a wasteless team that in no way deserves to be considered one of the top 16 (or worse, teams of all time is a long held one forged from much wrestling knowledge and viewing of many matches. And that they're going to knock off a team I consider to be one of the greatest really only elevates my disappointment that they're still standing in this thing while a team like The Miracle Violence Connection (who I have NO love for) is gone. And yeah, a lot of that is just the luck of the draw but knocking off a team that did some great stuff in two companies just brings it out.

Kid, you can argue that the Powers in Pain were LOD ripoffs and its probably true. But the difference is that the Powers were assembled SPECIFICALLY to be foils for the Warriors and feud with them. Demolition was (by most interpretations) assembled to capitalize on the popularity and idea of the Warriors by creating a similar team.



I need to go find that cage match against Hennig/Windham or something. But I don't think it would do any good because it seems clear that Demolition is advancing on nostalgia and the only think that can kill nostalgia is going back and watching it again and realizing how much it sucked.

The playing field has now been levelled out. I had voted for the little worker guys, but I had been on the fence on this one, I'm on the fence again, thanks to the John Kerry-like behavior of Byrne.

Think about what the ramifications of this is. We have the possibility of Demolition beating TWO Chris Benoit teams! And then they'd face The Road Warriors in the next bracket for the ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN OF FACE PAINT AND LEATHER!!! Which will likely be a squash, but what the hey.

Or we could have Benoit and Malenko losing to the Road Warriors. Don't know if it'd be a squash...

We saw The Warriors vs Demolition. The Warriors won and the cheap imitations would soon be nowhere to be found because they sucked and were worthless with the real thing in WWF.

On October 13 edition of Saturday Night's Main Event, Ax, Smash and Crush lost to Ultimate Warrior and LOD.[1][35] At Survivor Series 1990, Perfect Team (Demolition and Mr. Perfect) were defeated by Ultimate Warriors (The Ultimate Warrior, The Texas Tornado, and The Legion of Doom).[1][36] Shortly after, Ax left the WWF, with the on-air explanation being an order from kayfabe WWF President Jack Tunney that there could only be two members of Demolition. Smash and Crush were the two remaining members, and went on to primarily lose to teams such as The Rockers and The Legion of Doom. The team lost a final match to Genichiro Tenryu and Koji Kitao at WrestleMania VII in March 1991 before they broke up and the members went their separate ways.[37] As Crush went on a leave of absence from the WWF, Smash wrestled in singles matches (usually on the losing end) for several months before becoming Repo Man, a sneaky thief claiming to be a repossessor, in the fall of 1991.
