To the surprise of probably no one. I own 2. both rifles. One was my great grandfathers & is apparently pretty valuable to those who know about such this. Neither has been fired since 1990, when my dad took me clay pigeon shooting. I hit the only clay I shot at. Noone prepared me for the recoil. I decided not to hurt my bowling shoulder anymore than it already did.
I'll pull them out and clean them once my girls start dating. (yeah, I'm gonna be the 'gun on the porch to send a message dad')

when my step-father dies, I am going to inherit half an arsenal. Some of the guns are pretty cool, and a few are pretty old. Not sure what I am going to do with them though, at some point they are going to have to be in Michigan, but with my nephews here, right now I am not real interested in that

I see where you're going with that Sol, but if you're going to present the greatest hitter in MLB history with a gift, I don't think old family heirlooms are a good idea. I think we should purchase brand new guns for the great one.

That was a picture of Barry Bonds, not Ted Williams. I can see how you would be confused.

I fail to see how 521 Home Runs, 1,839 RBI and 2,654 Hits is better than 762 Home Runs, 1,996 RBI and 2,935 Hits. Apparently you never took a math class in your 27 years of college.

last I heard Williams didn't cheat, so that's how

I don't have one, and I really see no need for one, despite the neighborhood.
having said, that, I often think I wouldn't mind having a shotgun, and just not getting bullets. Because ain't nobody going to do ANYTHING in the house if they hear the sound of that fucker being cocked.
Although, it's really stupid to have a gun you aren't planning to ever USE as a gun.

That's not what I heard. I read a book with unnamed sources that claims Ted Williams paid off umpires, used amphetamines and threatened pitchers to throw easy fastballs right across the middle for him to hit or he and his mafia connections would kill their families. There's no evidence to back this up and its never been proven, but I believe it and so do a bunch of guys so that makes it true.

no, that rumor was debunked. Williams was such an asshole everyone hated him. He was naturally this good. Now, everyone also hated Bonds because he was a huge asshole too, but I am pretty sure being a huge asshole doesn't make you swell up like you are HHH before a quad tear

Good to see maybey is back FF.
I've used them in Boy Scouts, but currently do not own one. I'm a firm believer in training, and safety, so as long as those conditions are met, guns can be useful tools...
When Draven gets older, I hope he'll go into Boy Scouts, and learn about them as well. You can't be afraid of something, if you know about it.
It would amuse me if next year Byrne did a women's fed or Texas fed. I'd just like to see how he tries to make it a dark, demonic, ECW homage led by James Mitchell or Raven. -- Lucky, 2009

Byrne, that's exactly why i had the guys at work take me to the firing range. when i first started here, we had to do searches on female arrestees, and i was 100% certain if i NEVER learned how to shoot or even handle one, there'd be a 'skuffle' and i'd end up with it.
so i fired a glock 9mm and whatever brand 357s they were carrying at the time. I sucked with the 357.
the 9mm, however........
it was great fun, and the feeling of power when I was holding it was just amazing.
Hence....no guns in my house Until the zombies start.

Holy fuck. They teach you how to use guns in Boys Scouts?!?!
This whole thing started in chat when I commented that there's such a huge culture gap between most of America and where I live when it comes to guns. If I asked 10 random people around me if they've ever so much as fired a gun I bet I'd be lucky to find 3 who had (barring Irish immigrants with shady pasts). But if I go 2 or 3 hours in any direction that seems to flip. Here in NY I'm so insulated against the idea of gun owning. I wouldn't know where there's a gun shop or firing range around me. I'd be shocked if almost any of my friends revealed they had fired guns. I'd be floored if they told me they owned one. I know people who I call "rednecks" around here and I'd bet they don't own guns. If you're not a cop, a soldier, or a transplant I can't imagine when you would have been introduced to a gun.
But the web constantly shocks with how many people own guns. Or how many they own. I said I'd never start this thread at OO or Pun's because every time I've seen a "What weapons/guns do you own?" thread on other boards I've been scared shitless by the armories people own and how guns were discussed like nothing. When Moose and FF revealed they owned guns I was caught off guard and when Moose mentioned his sister owned a PINK gun I was in total shock.
Much like learning that there's apparently a gun wielding badge in Boy Scouts.
I'm not even terribly anti-gun. Its not that I think less of someone who owns a gun or anything. I'm all for strict gun monitoring and training but I don't really have a problem with intelligent, stable individuals legally own guns they keep safe. I just live in this weird part of America that guns aren't a part of our lives and it always shocks me how the majority of America is a different country.
That being said I should figure out where the nearest gun shop is because that IS the first place I'm headed when the zombies show up.
Or don't do either. If you can't find an image you like at either than don't force it. Just give me something you like and which will look good on the board.

In Boy Scouts there are 3 merit badges, Riflery, Shotgun Shooting and Archery.
I hold all 3, but was the best with the rifle. I earned them all at summer camp, and had fun learning about them all. It's not like the mini-NRA Lucky, with it being force fed down kid's gullets by the Boy Scouts, it's just three of 130+ merit badges to earn if you so choose.
But I can understand people's hesitation about guns in general, especially in urban areas when guns are equated with youth doing bad shit, hurting good people.

Speaking of that game, how is it? Also, what would you equate it to in terms of gameplay, such as Dead Rising, or like Gauntlet...

I've yet to play through it. I played a bit of the demo and it seemed like it would be cool. And I've heard nothing but good things about it, so I'll have to rent it sometime soon.

See, I tought tat was true, so I learned a shit load of stuff about snakes, asked my mom to take me to the Snake house at the zoo when I was young, followed every Steve Irwing special about Snakes, but I'm still scared shitless of them. Maybe I should have done the Boy Scout thing. Do they have a snake badge?
