I'm in. Sounds fun...
It would amuse me if next year Byrne did a women's fed or Texas fed. I'd just like to see how he tries to make it a dark, demonic, ECW homage led by James Mitchell or Raven. -- Lucky, 2009

Is there any real reason this has its own subforum if there's no plans for 20 threads opening up with pages of storytelling? I assume there's no "Stage 2" fanfiction planned.
Or don't do either. If you can't find an image you like at either than don't force it. Just give me something you like and which will look good on the board.

i think it should keep the subforum, and here's why:
each entry/line-up should have it's own thread.
reasons:
1. people can discuss the pros and cons of each individual line-up without it interfering with discussion about another line-up.
2. i think after this is over any everyone has their line-ups, there should be a showdown of everyone's networks to see who get's voted the best network in pun's house.
now a question:
is this a draft in the sense that once a show is picked it can't be picked by anyone else?
If people think there's actually enough to warrant to individual threads then so be it. I think there's probably a lessen to be learned from the wrestling draft though. There wasn't much in the way of reactions and conversation and some folks started threads and got no responses (which might have made them sore). And as someone who has tried to separate conversation from drafting or whatever in the C&B stuff I can say that its unlikely to work with this group. We like to mock and talk and shoot around. But if people think otherwise, whatever. No harm in the subforum, I just thought it was kinda overkill.
The showdown at the end makes sense as its something we always planned for the wrestling draft but then when the whole efedding idea popped up it ended up pushing the showdown idea aside and then it all just died away.

well here's my thoughts as far as the seperate threads go....
they're actually post draft. from what i would understand, the draft is picking your team. getting your line-up of shows. that wouldn't need more than one thread. it's SCHEDULING that i would think would get their own threads. you have your shows to use and them you say seperately "here's my sunday-friday schedule."
people would have a certain amount of time to post their schedules, discuss them with the board, move shows around, and then when the deadline hits that's the schedule you take to the showdown.
I get what you're saying about the scheduling but I guess I just think that's like 1 thread with 100 posts where everyone posts their schedules instead of 20 threads with 5 posts each where everyone posts their schedules separately. But I like to condense these things and I didn't really like setting up the wrestling draft subforum, I just did when folks pushed me to it. So its just my peeve is all.
Whatever. If the forum is superfluous it can be folded or ignored in a month. Its no biggie.

we need to come up with a way to pick the draft order. but it's got to be a method that has me picking before solly.
The way Lucky did it was good (random number gen) or was it dick size?
I don't remember ;D
Dev- are we capping this at a certain number, ala the wrestling draft? I think that was capped at 20.
Not sure if we'll have 20 people who want to do it but still...
Also, what's the time frame for being skipped? 8 hours?
It may be good to get a rule thread going with the rules. I mean, there's show syndication ect ;D

Hmm, Ziggy's idea od a showdown after the draft to determine the winner actually sounds like a great idea. We can have a random draw to determine seeding and based on head to head votes we can come up with the best network. I think that is better then the convoluted Stage 2 we came up with for the Wrestling Draft.
I take it that this will be a prime time TV draft, yes? Mon-Sun, 8-11 PM EST? Will we need a certain number of sitcoms, dramas, reality shows, etc... kinda like positions in sports fantasy teams, or is it totally open? What about length of show? If we don't have enough shows to fill all the prime time slots during the programming week, will the remaining pool of shows be considered a free agent pool? Are cable shows included like stuff on FX or USA? And what about premium channels like HBO?

HEY! I'll have you know Ziggy's idea was the original plan for "Stage 2" of the wrestling draft! Those damn OOWF wannabes changed it!
Ever think a show got cancelled too soon?
What's the deal with this? If a show only had 12 episodes then shouldn't drafting it mean you only get 12 episodes? Because I'd think that would be a big strategy issue in the draft. There are some shows I loved and thought were brilliant but if I only have 15 episodes of them what good does that do me? Because if we're pretending that the show was allowed to continue that makes the quality of the show completely theoretical. "Cop Rock was canceled too soon. If it had been allowed to continue it would have been a classic people would love even today. I swear."
Which brings up another thing as you might thing to allow some extra rounds to draft "mid season replacements" for shows like that with short runs.

i don't think we should be required to have any certain genre of shows, i just think people should know to have a well rounded schedule if they want to have a chance in the showdown.
and i do think time should be a factor, and people will have to realize if they draft only 1/2 hour shows they wont have enough be able to fill their time.
