Forgive me for possibly name dropping but I just think it would be better to get a ruling on certain types of shows now rather then during the draft. There are two programs in particular that do appear on the networks lineups but fall into categories like Sports or Movies so I'm not sure what the ruling would be:
Monday Night Football Wonderful World of Disney (also every network seemed to have at one time or another a Movie Night, ie CBS Sunday Night Movie)
I say both of these should be off the table but I wanted clarification before I removed them from my lists.
You name dropped the biggie, but it's probably better to get it worked out now.
What's everyone opinion on Monday and Sunday night football?
The movies are out because they weren't a series. Even if it was the CBS Sunday night movie, they weren't connected week to week. At least with football, it's a continuation of sorts as in what happened the week before matters in a way. The movies almost normally never followed the same saga while for 16 or 17 weeks, MNF developed if that makes sense.
But then again, if a majority dont want it included, I'll be okay with that as well.
So to answer your question...
1)MNF-debateable? 2)Movies of the Week-eliminated.
I see nothing wrong with MNF... if you want to waste an entire night on it. You can't deny its impact on televised sports, and it was a legit fixture for 16 Mondays a year on network television for like 35 years.
Sunday Night Football.... that's a tougher call, but I see nothing wrong with it either.
One thing I wanted to bring up wrestling wise - this may sound kind of stupid, but can we limit the wrestling shows to only the current ones?
I know Mikey is going to be crushed if he can't bring back WCW Monday Nitro or Georgia Championship Wrestling on TBS, but to me, it just makes sense.
Except if we're drafting TV shows from the entire history of TV, they'd be fair game?
Yes?
It would amuse me if next year Byrne did a women's fed or Texas fed. I'd just like to see how he tries to make it a dark, demonic, ECW homage led by James Mitchell or Raven. -- Lucky, 2009
see. i told you byrne was the way to go here. like i said, he's a big dork. -- Ziggy, 2009
Bryne, I realizing we're drafting shows from all eras - but for some reason, I just think wrestling should be different. I can't explain it. If everyone thinks that old wrestling shows like WCW Nitro, Thunder, AWA Wrestling, WWE Excess, etc should be draftable, then I'll be on board.
Yeah, I don't get you, Eric. Its fair game for me to grab a sitcom from 30 years ago but not a wrestling show from 10 years ago? I can see the argument for cutting out RAW with sports but I don't get how Nitro differs.
My gut says MNF seems outside the bubble but if RAW's in then MNF seems fair game. And if its the realness of MNF that makes it different than reality TV and game shows seem to cover that since I assume they're available.
The Sunday Night Movie stuff seem like more trouble than they're worth but at the same time I don't know that the "saga" argument works considering that I'm sure any number of anthology series will be fair game even though there was ZERO continuity from episode to episode. Still, it just seems to be too big a hassle to deal with movies so I saw screw them and screw the hypocrisy. Because as bd said basically every channel has run a movie block in prime time at some point and how do you set rules on that? What's keeping me from grabbing the Channel 55 Friday Night Movie and showing the greatest films of all time in those slots? Since the Movie Nights can't offer original or unique content I'd suggest they're off limit for that reason. Unless you were talking about a series that legitimately used its own stuff all the time, which Disney Sunday Night Movie did half of the time but then aired Disney feature films.
Or don't do either. If you can't find an image you like at either than don't force it. Just give me something you like and which will look good on the board.

Nitro is a canceled show just like anything else, right? Why shouldn't it be up for grabs? If we're allowing MNF (also a canceled show technically), why not Nitro? I think if we allow one, we should allow them all or not at all.
MTA: The simple way to clear it up is to just have a draft of dramas and sitcoms only. No sports, no events, no movies.
ect. Unless we go with those 2 being 3 since they ran that way as well...

I'm assuming game shows and reality shows are fair game. Which in my mind makes it stupid to reject wrestling and sports. Movies are different. Most of them weren't even made for TV and none of them were regular features. The closes are those traditions of airing films in the same time slot without any necessary connection or theme.
Bottom line, if Survivor and American Idol are fair game then RAW and MNF seem like fair game to me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah... name drop. But those are big things and anyone who wants those pieces of crap were thinking them anyway.

First of all, reality and game shows are definitely in. I have no issues there.
Second of all, it seems like it's going to be a pretty even split with regards to Sports and Wrestling. So it looks like I'm making an executive decision here, they're in. But the suggestion that if there is a name on the show (ex. MNF) it must air on Mondays on your schedule. It does limit someone from taking the 3 big shows that have Monday on their title. This ONLY applies to sports/wrestling shows. If a drama/comedy/game show has a title that doesn't have to relate to the day it airs, then it can air any night of the week.
I will have a draft order up tonight or tomorrow, once I finalize a few possible people if they want in or not. (Fish, Fire, Lou)

As a heads-up to all, I'm heading out of town and likely won't be able to "draft" anything until Wednesday. If I miss the drafting entirely, please do it without me (don't draft FOR me), and I will work with whatever else is left.
I understand and accept that I may be left with only leftovers, but I'll do my best, nonetheless.
DS: I took Mike's advice and sent you a short-list of my pre-draft rankings. I'll just have to deal with the sloppy leftovers from whatever I don't get.
