He should have just thrown a punch, because he's going to be suspended as if he did.
He should have just beat his ass. And House shoulda done something. I mean, besides score 31.
House talked some shit. And hit the technical FT. And the 2 FTs. And scored 31. Plus he had a 4-point-play at some point.
Eddie House is getting laid tonight. I think he's ok with not getting tossed too.
I dunno if personally Alston should get suspended for a slap, because, probably like he was thinking, it was a slap, not a punch. But Barkley made a good point; if you don't suspend him, guys are gonna go around slapping each other when they get pissed off. So you really want to see a multi-player slap fight after a hard foul under the basket? I sure don't.
I was watching the Dodgers game tonight, and only flipped to the Lakers game every now and then, so for the most part I don't know what you guys are talking about.
I did, however, happen to catch that bit with Fisher, and I won't defend him at all. It was totally dirty.
Man, the refs just screwed Dallas. They had a foul to give with 5 seconds left, and committed the foul... only it wasn't called, and Carmelo drains the go ahead three.
But it's the NBA, so this isn't surprising at all.
Also... so Alston gets a game for "slappin House upside the head," but Perkins doesn't for blatantly elbowing a guy in the throat? No, there isn't a double standard here. Not at all.
I didn't see the whole Kobe incident the other night, so I can't comment on that.

When has there not been a double standard in the NBA?

It was established by Kobe the night before that elbowing someone in the throat is totally fine. In fact, protocol SHOULD have been that the guy who got elbowed in the throat should have been charged with a foul, and then immediately ejected if he so much as looks at the guy that threw the elbow.
Here's one of my problems with officiating in the NBA. If it's a foul, then it's a foul. It doesn't matter if it's Kobe or the 12th guy straight from the D-League. If it's a foul in pre-season then it should be a foul in the first week of the season, then it should be a foul in the playoffs. If it's a foul 1 minute into the game, then it should be a foul with 5 seconds left. If it's a foul for one crew, it should be a foul for any other crew. Leave track records out of it. Leave personal feelings out of it.
If it's a foul, then it's a foul. End of story.
In saying that, I think less fouls should be called. Let the guys play. Fine players for flopping. Disallow that jumping into the defender when he leaves his feet play (I know TMac would be called all game every game on that one). Eliminate the pussy fouls, but let some of the harder ones stand. Don't go to a street ball no blood no foul rules, but open the games up more and let the guys play. Just be consistant and stop letting the name players get away with everything. Maybe they should hold the refs accountable and start docking a low percentage of pay from them with every big blown call. If you see that Joey Crawford lets (let's say) D Wade get away with everything, then don't let him ref those games. The league needs to realize that the refs aren't perfect, so hold them accountable more and see how they react. I'm rambling now.
And Artest got thrown out for the late foul on Gasol? Why?

The NBA admits that the ref fucked up. He was also on the same ref team that didn't call the foul on Brent Berry last year that mighta extended the Spurs series with the Lakers. But some teams need to be protected.

One guy is a street baller from New York. The other plays for the Celtics. Again, one group must be protected.

Kobe just did what he does (plays dirty and gets away with it) and Artest stood up to him. Artest gets thrown out. I'm getting ready to say Fuck the NBA.
Yao's out for the season again. Not that their season was gonna last another week, anyway. Dirty plays or no dirty plays, The Lakers are just too much for them.
Is it so hard to imagine? Is it so hard to believe? Something so outrageous, something so far-fetched, well how 'bout Adam and Eve?
They stopped calling Traveling when Michael Jordan decided he didn't need to dribble through the lane.
QFT! It would have been the equivalent of MLB letting the 1-4 batters on every team hit off a tee. John Havlicek would have scored 60 points a game if he got to do this.
Yeah, I know this place pretty good. I went to law school here.[My5:]
